Cotton

Unfortunately, we still have some rains. Harvests are made very difficult for farmers who do not have any dry storage place.

Cotton harvest last year was not very good, but it looks worse this year.

Exams to become a civil servants

This year between August and September more than 2.000.000 people tried to pass an exam to become civil servants in Burkina Faso. More than 1.000.000 tried to become primary school teachers, there were 60.000 places. Over 600.000 tried to enter the health ministry when there were 2.000 places.

To become civil servant means security for the future even so many people realize that it might not be a job a person is looking for. There are many teachers in Burkina who have absolutely no interest (and competence) in their job.

Private schools which train people to become teachers or health care personnel had come up as mushrooms after the rain. They are now in trouble and many are closing.
