Most of the people in developing countries are waiting to get the COVID-19 vaccine. In Burkina Faso it does not seem to be a priority for several reasons. People there do not believe this virus is a danger to their health. The vaccines are not available. Many people believe that this vaccine is only to enrich the pharmaceutical industry and/or make them more sick.

While this is happening the spread of the avian flu is going on in many countries. To make it worse, Russia just announced the first case of transmission between Asian flu and human.

Sars, covid 19, ebola all those viruses are from zoonotic origin. Spread of those virus are often worldwide because of the movement of people and animals. We are also giving them more possibilities to spread to human through our own behaviour.

The example of the tick which can give lime disease is well studied: “Urbanization and other anthropogenic factors can be implicated in the spread of Lyme disease to humans. In many areas, expansion of suburban neighbourhoods has led to gradual deforestation of surrounding wooded areas and increased border contact between humans and tick-dense areas. Human expansion has also resulted in a reduction of predators that hunt deer as well as mice, chipmunks and other small rodents—the primary reservoirs for Lyme disease. As a consequence of increased human contact with host and vector, the likelihood of transmission of the disease has greatly increased. Researchers are investigating possible links between global warming and the spread of vector-borne diseases, including Lyme disease.”(Wikipedia).

Let us be optimist and hope that our leaders will understand the problems of our planet and will be willing and able to change course to protect it to protect us. This would first mean changing from selfishness to unselfishness.

Driving licenses

Students of the 7th year will be able to pass their driving license. We have found some funding for this school year for this project. For the following years we expect that the profit made by the animal feed production unit will cover the costs.

A driving license will give an advantage to our students over others when looking for a job or to start their own business (driving tractor, van…).

“Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.”  Vaclav Havel
