This week was again very busy for Eugénie, she helped the employees manufacturing washable protection kits for menstruation to get organised. It was a major task and she had to do it in close to 40°C temperature and no airco!! It is a great success.
In order to fly to Europe we have to go to Ouagadougou from Bobo Dioulasso where we have our house. Even so that Bobo is getting busier and busier, it is nothing compared with Ouaga which is crowded and dusty at this time of the year. This is not a stage of our trip we look forward to but we have to go through it.

Volontaires De la Patrie (VDP) Agricole
The 143 young adults (15 women) spent 10 weeks in military 17 tents on the grounds of the LAP.

They were taught the basics of growing vegetables (beans, peanuts, eggplant, tomato, cabbage…) and some staple crops cultivated in Burkina (corn, rice).

They spend about 10% of their time learning some theory and 90% in practice.
They have signed in with the government for 5 years and are supposed to be under a military discipline. We are ok to teach agriculture, not so good in military discipline. One of the supervisors of the project came one day at 6 AM in the camp. Not all VDPs were on the sport field doing exercises. It was a long day for all the VDPs who had to go through very strong military exercises from 6 AM to 3 PM without food or drink.
All those VDPs are now going back to their villages were they will have to work in cooperatives. Some land will be given to them, a water well will be drilled and some equipment provided.
We expect to have a second group starting beginning of April. The Grands Projets du Burkina” is paying for this training.
For us it brings additional resources to the LAP to build some infrastructure and it also make it more known in Burkina.
School ‘t Atrium from Amersfoort:
For over 15 years, this school has supported the LAP by collecting funds through activities of the students. We also received sport shirts and balls from them.
We are really grateful for their support.

News from the LAP school
Last Saturday was fair time at the LAP. It started with the finals of the interclass football competition.

The boys competition between the 4th year (in red) and the 5th year (in white). The 4th year won. For the girls it was also 4th year against 5th year, but there the 5th year won.
Besides football competition, there were other activities mainly around music and dance.

Production of fingerlings
The infrastructure is almost ready. Two of our people will follow a training for this production in last week of March. Almost there! The costs of one fingerling will decrease from 150 FCFA to 30 FCFA. It will definitely help in the margin of the fish farming.
